Personal GPS Tracking

In the US

- A kid will go missing every 40 seconds in the U.S. (thats over 2,100 daily

- 800,000 children go missing each year

- 90% are juveniles

- 50% are aged somewhere between 4 to 11 years

- Strangers commit 53% of child abductions that end tragically

- Kidnapping statistics in america also indicate that it generally takes a mother or father between 2-4 hours to supply complete information [recent photos as well as details about their child[]|] to authorities

- An additional 500,000 go missing without having ever being reported!

** (Department of Justice, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, National Incidence Studies of Missing, Abducted, Runaway, and Thrown away Children, October 2002)

If those statistics aren’t alarming with regards to the safety of our children I do not know what is! As soon as our children are born we as parents worry about them. Are they hungry? Are they sufficiently warm? Are they sick? Our kids safety and well being are uppermost in our emotions at all times.

Risks are everywhere and we worry most when we are not with our children and apparently have no control over their well being. Is it surprising that lots of parents are turning to GPS technology to offer an extra measure of reassurance? Moving beyond the baby monitor and in many cases the cellphone is a brand new monitoring approach called GPS-Global Positioning System. Under what circumstances would I use a Personal GPS tracking Device for my little one?

As kids mature they sometimes have to walk on their own or perhaps they just want to go to the recreation area with a buddy. Although each and every kid needs to have a measure of self-sufficiency,we as parents concern yourself with these situations. A Personal GPS Tracking Device can help monitor your child’s movements and determine if they’re wherever they ought to be. Young kids require close oversight.

Parents with special needs children, children with autism for example,or other special needs children would gain greatly with a GPS tracking device designed specifically for youngsters.

There are quite a few personal tracking devices on the market today.

GPS container tracking

GPS container tracking clients cover the full range of stakeholders in the global logistics business, the three types of client are:

1. Government authorities. They're increasingly interested in eliminating dump-age from containers in order to they collect the full taxation due on cargo. In particular, governments of countries who're handling containers in transit are keen to ensure they accumulate necessary custom and tax duties. Security is also an issue. Governments are worried about the movements of illegal and/or dangerous materials / items inside inter modal containers. Lastly, governments are trending to 'single window' operations whereby all information relevant to the movement of cargo is covered in a single platform, this includes for example, integrating manifest info along with xray scans and location data.

2. Logistics Service Providers. These range from niche providers who specialize in the movement of certain kinds of goods, to large scale shippers of manufactured products. LSPs are concerned with protection of shipments in addition to providing value added customer support.

3. Beneficial Cargo Owners. Increasingly the recipient or owner of the goods is turning to container tracking service providers to monitor and locate their own container . This could involve monitoring the container while in transit or it is at a container port terminal.

Most of these customers would like to get maximum benefits with minimal effort. Whilst the GPS technology performs its task well, the key aspect of the system is the 'human factor'. It is important that client must be ready to ensure that the equipment is attached and activated correctly, and when the freight arrives, that there's someone reliable who can make sure the hardware is returned to the start of the logistics sequence to repeat the process.

Businesses usually require different solutions for container tracking.

Governments have a tendency to make use of the most integrated systems, including RFID networks at port terminals combined with container mounted tracking devices and sensors.

Logistics service providers and Beneficial Cargo Owners want a self contained, 'easy on – easy off' devices that can be fixed to the container. Some of these customers do not want to open the container door after they have been sealed, so they may prefer devices that are fitted to the outside of the container.

The main benefits are:

1. Security of container doors. The capability to have instant alerts of unauthorized door opening delivered to the supervisor of the container movement operation. This information can also be stored on the device itself for analysis later if a realtime data channel isn't available.

2. Tracking. Customer can use the realtime location information to generate a wealth of management information.

3. Container Monitoring. Devices that include telemetry sensors that can detect light entering into the container can detect if the container is being sabotaged; temperature monitoring – useful for reefer type containers, as well as an accelerometer to report if the container has been dropped.

GPS tracking

GPS tracking  systems are designed for tracking both automobiles and people. Utilized as part of a business’s fleet management strategy, they can enhance efficiency minimizing costs. Additionally they allow a business to monitor its car or truck fleet, wherever they may be.

The technologies behind GPS Tracking systems have been adapted from cellular (GSM CDMA) systems and location specific (GPS) systems. GPS tracking works on the triangulation algorithm between the source of the transmission (ie the GPS vehicle tracking system installed into the fleet vehicles) and Low Earth orbit satellites to pinpoint a vehicle’s position to within 12 inches.

The benefits of using vehicle tracking as a fleet management technique are numerous. Vehicle thefts cost insurance providers and businesses millions of dollars every year. GPS tracking systems are created specifically to identify the vehicle’s movement and so can lead to a quick response and speedy recovery of a stolen vehicle, minimising losses and possibly lowering the vehicle insurance premiums paid by the business. Some vehicle insurance companies offer insurance discounts for vehicles fitted with GPS tracking systems, so the savings can amount to a considerable amount.

Fleet management is all about maximising efficiency, decreasing costs and maintaining excellent customer relationships. It's also about your visible reputation out on the road, particularly if your vehicles carry your company’s insignia or display your business name. Vehicle tracking systems can help in all these areas by making certain your drivers are taking the most efficient routes, are not wasting fuel by speeding excessively and are not damaging your company’s reputation by driving in a manner that portrays your company in a negative light. There is also a strong safety element associated with GPS systems, especially in remote or hazardous areas.

GPS tracking can instantly alert a company to any problems or crisis situations. If a automobile is involved in a road traffic accident, some GPS systems will alert the control centre immediately, meaning that emergency services can be mobilised quickly, even to the most remote places. They are able to also act as a beacon for search and rescue teams if the vehicle has left the road and is concealed from plain sight. Thus giving your drivers the peace of mind that their personal safety is being taken care of by the company, building a greater level of trust between drivers and management. This is more likely to encourage a healthier mindset to on-road use and a much more responsible approach to the job – not to mention contributing to safe practices responsibilities.

Vehicle tracking systems are easy to install and cost effective, making them basic to include in an overall fleet management strategy. Because the technology has become commonplace, there are systems that are ideal for fleets of any size – from a small business running only a couple of vans to a large fleet with different types of vehicles.

Modern technology, including GPS tracking systems, have been designed to make driving more efficient and safer. It is particularly relevant to fleet management and can help a business run its fleet much more efficiently than in earlier years. From issues of safety through to assisting a new driver become familiar with the most efficient routes and vehicle security, GPS tracking should be considered to be an essential part of fleet management.

Three things to consider when having your computer repaired

Some quick planning before having your computer repaired can save you from lost data and further inconvenience.

Prompt Computer Repairs

When your computer fails it invariably happens at acritical time like in the middle of creating important documents. so when you are looking for computer repair services, keep in mind that a prompt response is very important.

Loan or rental computer

If the computer repair requires replacement of major units, there may be a delay as components are ordered and supplied.
In these situations it may be convenient to arrange for a temporary computer, although managing your data is also very important to ensure the updated data is safely preserved and not lost when you return the temporary system to its owners.

Don’t loose data

Before your computer is repaired, consider what information may be on it that could potentially be lost.
Even if you regularly backup your computer, there may be some new data since your last backup session which wouldbe at risk.

If there is unprotected data, it is important to alert the computer repair technician so that this is not inadvertently deleted unless absolutely necessary.

Unfortunately if the hard drive has failed you may loose this information anyway :(

Jim’s Computer Services can assist with computer  technicians who can repair your computer promptly to let you get back to work.
